Corporate Service Wing – Half-Year Workplan Review Workshop

Theme: Getting Connected, Providing Service Excellence, with Accountability and Good Governance.
Corporate Services Wing 2024 Half Year Workplan & Performance Review Workshop was held at Crown Hotel, Down Town, Port Moresby on Friday 09th August 2024.
The Review Workshop was officially opened with a word of prayer led by Mr. Ronald Howard, Manager – GESI.
Mr. Alex Gabia, a/Executive Director – Corporate Service made a welcoming and opening remarks and thanked Mr. John Ame, Executive Directive – Corporate Service for having the confidence in him to take the ED – CS role while Mr. Ame was away.
Mr. Angelis Romanong outlines the objective of the presentation as follows:
- Update Performance in the last 6 months (AWP)
- Highlight achievement
- Progress/improvement
- Way forward
- Overall 2024 AWP review end of the year
Mr. David Wereh, Secretary – Department of Works & Highways was expected to give a speech at the workshop but due to other commitments, he was not able to attend and he sends his apologies.
With that, Mr. Ame took the opportunity and thank the ICT team for organizing the event and acknowledge the presence of the Advisors and everyone from the Corporate Services Wing who were present at that time. Mr. Ame said Corporate Service plays a very important role in the Department and he encouraged everyone to work in line with the flagship of Connect PNG and to work in compliance with the GO and Corporate Service Strategy 6&7 of the Corporate Plan. By doing so he said, one cannot go wrong in his or her job/work.
Before each branch/section does its presentation, Mr. Pio Vinituranga, Organizational Development -Advisor shared his observations about the Public Service and how public servants should have a strategic way of thinking in order to improve service delivery.
The lines of presentation are as follows:
- Policy Compliance Division: Highlight/Achievement In the last 6 months the Division Completed four (4) Policies which were approved by the Secretary and are now arranged for circulation and implementation.
- Human Resource Management: Highlight – Recruitment process, Data cleansing - New Hires are expected to go into the payroll system and get their file numbers by Pay No. 26.
- Finance & Accounting Branch: Highlight – Rollout program to 4 regions of the country (Alfresco)
- Training Services Branch: Highlight – Collaborating with other branches/sections in program planning.
- GESI
- Property & Asset: Highlight – Successful eviction of tenants occupying the dormitories.
- Information Communication Technology (ICT): Highlight – Connection of new standby gen set to the ICT building including the Secretary’s
- Audit
The day’s program ended with a panel discussion and group photo session.
