Department of Works and Highways Minister Hon. Solan Mirisim, MP witnessed a historical road contract signing of K384,809,701 million under the OK Tedi Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (ITCS) for Western Province in Port Moresby today at Kwalimu haus in Waigani. 

After 50 years of Independence, Papua New Guinea under the ITCS project arrangements where mine likes OK Tedi 2% funding components dedicated to supporting road infrastructure projects in mine impact areas whilst DoWH provides the supervision and technical standards as custodians and Works Minister Hon. Solan Mirisim, MP supports and get approval from the National Executive Council (NEC).

The Governor for Western Province Hon. Taboi Awi Yoto, MP and Member for North Fly Hon. James Donald, MP, and Member for Middle Fly Hon. Mai Maso Hewabi, MP and Member for Delta Fly, Hon. Agena Gamai, MP where overwhelmed with joy and greatful to the Government for this ITCS project arrangements initiative implementation, which has supported them to implement road project because their District Support Improvement Program Funds and Provincial Support Improvement Program cannot provide the access and basic services like the road for their people. 

The ITCS project arrangements for this project are 3 so far in this project arrangements as follows; 

1. K55,187,770 million for the construction of Balimo to Kawiyapo to Wasa Road in Delta Fly District 
2. K44,919,600 upgrading and sealing of Balimo Town roads in Middle Fly District in Western Province 
3. K294,702,331 million construction of Kiunga Nomad Road 150km missing link from kilometres 14.9 along Kiunga Tabubil Highway in North Fly District to Nomad in Middle Fly District of Western Province.

The construction of the 3 road project was awarded to the China Railway Engineering who is also based in the Province.
