Vision and Objectives
Vision
To build a connected and resilient Papua New Guinea where every citizen has access to opportunities, services, and markets through an integrated, inclusive, and sustainable transport network.
The Connect PNG Program envisions a future where infrastructure bridges not just geographical gaps but also social and economic divides, empowering communities and fostering national unity.
Objectives
Seamless National Connectivity
Establish a fully integrated road network that links urban centers, rural communities, and remote regions, enabling uninterrupted movement across all 22 provinces.
Economic Growth and Trade Facilitation
Develop strategic economic corridors to reduce transportation costs, enhance supply chains, and open up markets for local industries such as agriculture, mining, and tourism.
Climate Resilience and Sustainability
Build and rehabilitate infrastructure with environmentally friendly materials and designs that can withstand natural disasters, including floods, landslides, and earthquakes.
Social Inclusion and Equity
Ensure that even the most remote communities gain access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities by prioritizing missing link roads and rural connectivity.
Improved Mobility and Accessibility
Reduce travel time and costs by constructing all-weather roads and enhancing transport corridors to improve efficiency and reliability.
Governance and Transparency
Foster accountability and efficiency in project execution through robust compliance frameworks such as the Road (Fund and Management) Act 2020 and the Connect PNG (Implementation and Funding Arrangements) Act 2021.
Regional Integration
Strengthen connections within Papua New Guinea and neighboring nations to enhance regional trade and cooperation, positioning the country as a key player in the Pacific region.
