Induction 2022

PUBLIC SERVICE INDUCTION COURSE COMPLETED IN HIGH NOTE 

 

Department of Works & Highways Training Branch has successfully completed the Batch 1 & 2 of the public service induction course for 2022 which saw over 50 plus probationary staff from Works Department in Headquarters now being made permanent officers to the Department. 


Acting Executive Director Corporate Services, Mr. Tau Dikana during his official remarks when batch 1 passed out, thanked the training branch for finally admitting those probationary staff of whom are now fully pledged public servant. 


Mr. Dikana was adamant that from this time onwards as public servants it is the sole duty to serve the department without fear or favor and the Public Service General Orders (GO) must be uphold at all times when carrying out duties and responsibilities. 


Generally, from the training, the probationary officers learnt that the 23 GOs are the basis where you as a public servant can be dealt with if your breach any of the orders or you can be compensated if the system encroach into your rights as a public servant. 


Acting Executive Manager Policy Development and Coordination Mr. Willie Kupe also share his similar remarks stating that the training will now be reflected on individual staff performance and their general attitude toward their respective roles in the department. 


Mr Kupe said first impression is key, your appearance, punctuality and attitude will portray the type of person you are by those who are your colleague, clients and fellow public servants. He said that with this training course completed attitude must change. 


The training was organized by the training branch, and facilitated by skills gap training solution and it was run for two weeks starting 14th February – 25th February 2022. During the course of the training the Public Employees Association (PEA) came to do a presentation and membership drive. 


Nambawan Super, the public service super fund also came to do a presentation on their membership drive and different products that they offer to compliments the retirement benefits that they hold on behalf of public servants.  


The super fund has almost 200, 000 membership and K1.2 billion worth of asset that holds the two hundred thousand shareholders interest and safeguard the retirement benefits for public servants before they leave the workforce.
