GG Executes Aropa Road Reconstruction Project Contract

H.E. Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae GCL, GCMG, KStJ, Governor General of Papua New Guinea, has executed on behalf of the State, a contract for the reconstruction of a two-lane road along the Aropa coastal road in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, ARoB.

Reconstruction work includes upgrading and sealing of 18.8km of a 45.42km road between Kieta and Toimonapu Section of the Aropa coastal road.

The contract is valued at K120, 019, 926. 12, inclusive of GST and will be funded by the national Government.

The National Executive Council has awarded the contract to Dekenai Constructions Limited. Company representatives Mathew Fallon and Jim Taparu signed the contract before the Governor General and acting Secretary of the Department of Works and Highways Gibson Holemba.

The Governor General has also executed on behalf of the State, a contract for reconstruction and upgrade of a road between Toimanapu and Buin Kangu Wharf Section of the Aropa coast in the ARoB.

Reconstruction work include upgrading and sealing of a two-lane road that covers the remaining 38.8km of the 61.6km road.

The contract is valued at K170,378,938. 20 and will be funded by the national Government.

The National Executive Council has awarded the contract to China Overseas Engineering Group Co., Ltd. Company representatives Yango Bo and Wang Siguang signed the contract before the Governor General and acting Secretary of Department of Works and Highways Gibson Holemba at Government House today. 

Meantime, the Governor General has further executed on behalf of the State contract for road pavement rehabilitation of Bereina to Apanaipi Bridge along Hiritano Highway in Central province.

Construction work includes pavement, rehabilitation, stabilization and sealing of Bereina Junction to Apanaipi Bridge covering 32.6kms, along Hiritano Highway.

The contract is valued at K78,706,000. 00, inclusive of GST, and will be funded by the National Government.

The National Executive Council has awarded the contract to Dekenai Construction Limited. Company representatives Graham McKillop and Jim Taparu signed the contract before the Governor General witnessed by acting Secretary of the Department of Works and Highways Gibson Holemba.

Additionally, the National Executive Council has awarded to China Wu Yi Co. Limited, a contract for Long-Term Performance-Based Rehabilitation, Restoration and Maintenance Works from Apanaipi Bridge to Malalaua Station section covering 47.56kms, along Hiritano Highway to Gulf Province.

The contract is valued at K112,309,994. 29 inclusive of GST and contingency and will be funded under the national Government’s Connect PNG Phase One Program in Gulf Province.

Forty percent (40%) of the Contract value is subcontracted to Ingiman Construction Limited to provide rural labor and local material purchases.
