PNG EXXON MOBIL LNG PROJECT INFRASTRUCTURE TAX CREDIT SCHEME TRANSFORM HELA PROVINCE IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA – Update on the Highlands Highway Section between Halimbu Junction to Komo District Station 35km road sealing project underway

Road project sealing financing from the PNG Exxon Mobil PNG LNG Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme and Connect PNG program from the Highlands Highway section between Halimbu Junction at Tari town to Komo District Station in Hela is progressing smoothly with the contractor executing the bitumen and sealing chips section by section progressively in 2025.

The Exxon Mobil PNG LNG Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme Project in Hela Province of Papua New Guinea has been very instrumental in building resounding infrastructure in the Hela Province since its provincial boundary was demarcated from once being part of the Southern Highlands Province (SHP) since 2012.

This program has completely transformed the people’s livelihood and landscape of the Hela Province to compliment the new facelift of the Provincial Capital of Tari township which now becoming a potential economic hub connectivity from people traversing pass the Strickland River into Teleformin District of the hinterlands of the West Sepik Province sharing border with Hela and Western Province respectively facilitating easy access to trade and boosting other economic activities because of connectivity.

The road project upgrade under the infrastructure tax credit scheme and the Connect PNG program is a 35km from Halimbu junction to Komo Station which was approved in 2023 by the National Government under the Infrastructure Tax Credit (ITC) and supported Connect PNG program.

Hela Province has contributed immensely in the PNG Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project generating millions of Kina into the government coffers and it’s about time infrastructure upgrade road project like this Halimbu junction to Komo station project is implemented to compensate the resources that was abstracted from the province so the constituency can benefit having easy access to goods and services.
