Lae City Arterial Road’s upgrade works continues – Lae City Authority supports road furniture construction and implements drainage and concrete surfacing work from second seven dump to Busu Bridge

Department of Works and Highways (DoWH) Morobe Provincial Works Office is keeping close supervision in partnership with the Lae City Authority (LCA) which saw many roads upgrade and concrete pavement construction of all arterial roads section in the industrial city to completion on time and schedule.
Works and Highways Secretary Mr. Gibson Holemba has been very supportive of many road projects in Lae city as he himself has been a pioneer of the concrete road pavement construction technology engineering specification project as a project engineer after graduating from University of Technology.
Mr. Holemba now at the helm of the department as the secretary continues to equally give his attention to support the industrial city and under the Lae City Authority partnership the road furniture like crossings, foot paths and drainage are constructed to meet city roads standard requirements.
While the Morobe Provincial Works office looks after major reconstruction works such as new concrete surfacing projects, the Lae City Authority takes care of the maintenance portion of the road works.
Current drainage and concrete surfacing works from Second Seven dump to Busu bridge is supervised by DoWH. The project is funded by the national government for a 3.0km section and contractor is JVPNG Construction Ltd.
These works are progressing well within time and schedule. The Government have been supportable through office of the secretary and project is progressing well under our close supervision by the Morobe Provincial Works Manager Mr. Samson Apai.
