The Architect of the iconic parliament house, the network custodian of the national road, bridge, culvert, cross drainage structures and the silent development partner building Papua New Guinea since 16th September 1975.
The Department of Works and Highways (DoWH) unveiled its new 50th Golden Jubilee logo to commemorate PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary on 16th September 2025.
This significant milestone marks a half-century of dedicated service to the development of Papua New Guinea's infrastructure and its ongoing commitment to national progress.
The event was graced by the attendance of the keynote speaker the Minister for Works and Highways, Hon. Solan Mirisim, MP and Vice Minister Hon. Peter Isoaimo, MP along with past and present leaders of the department, industry experts, and stakeholders from various sectors.
Present on stage to witness the occasion was the host DoWH Secretary Mr. Gibson Holemba, Executive Director Corporate Services Mr. John Ame, Executive Director Field Operations Mr. Brian Alois, Executive Director Highway Management Mr. Steven Pup and Acting Executive Director Network Planning Mr. Vagi Gairowaga.
The new Golden Jubilee logo reflects the department’s rich history while embodying the spirit of resilience and progress. It incorporates elements that symbolize the evolution of infrastructure under DoWH’s leadership, blending tradition with modernity in its design.
This logo is not only a symbol of the department’s past achievements but also an emblem of its continued dedication to shaping the future of Papua New Guinea for the next 50 years.
This milestone coincides with the country's 50th Independence Anniversary, offering an opportunity to reflect on DoWH’s journey—from its inception to its present role as a critical player in the nation’s development.
During the launch, speakers made wonderful testimony, reflection, high light key achievements, the current projects, and the future vision of the department as it adapts to the evolving needs of the country and its people.
